Jay has 30 years experience in market transformation, sustainable design of buildings, and energy efficiency. Jay earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Duke University. In 1989, he began with ICF International as a consultant working on EPA’s ENERGY STAR market transformation programs. For 10 years, he led ICF’s consulting team for ENERGY STAR for Homes. Since 2004, Jay has provided independent consulting services to the US Green Building Council in developing the LEED for Homes program. Jay was Acting Director for LEED for Homes for two years. He is also currently the lead programmatic and verification consultant for the Green Communities Offset Fund. Jay also provides program development, technical services, and training to a variety of other clients in the sustainability and green home building industry. Jay is active serving on the Home Depot Foundation Awards of Excellence Selection Committee; the Habitat for Humanity International Partnership for Sustainable Buildings Advisory Committee; and, The Healthy House Institute Advisory Board. Born and raised in Ontario, Canada, for the past 22 years, Jay and his wife, Kim, have resided with their two sons in Annapolis, Maryland.

Doug earned his BS in chemistry from Carnegie Mellon University in 1999. After graduation, he worked for 2 years with ICF International providing technical support to EPA’s ENERGY STAR for Homes Program. Doug then returned to Carnegie, and in 2006 earned his PhD in Engineering & Public Policy with a focus on distributed energy resources and general technology assessment. Doug has been providing technical consulting services to the US Green Building Council’s LEED for Homes program, as well as several other green home building initiatives.

Doug was raised in the northeast, and now lives in Oakland, California.

Marian holds a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Stanford University, and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. Her professional skills include green home rating systems, sustainable design of homes, indoor environmental quality, and emissions trading. Currently, Marian provides technical support to various green home rating programs. Previously, her project experience included the dynamics of indoor mold particles, and the use of constructed wetlands to treat water pollution. Marian also worked as an environmental consultant at ENVIRON where she evaluated alternative approaches for emissions reductions at power plants. She has also conducted dozens of environmental audits.

Kim holds a BS in Accounting from the University of Maryland, and a BA in French from the University of Windsor. She has more than 28 years experience in business management and accounting. A certified public accountant by training, Kim has worked in both public accounting and tax, and for the past 11 years as accounting manager and controller for two private firms.

Kim left her career in 2007 and is now dedicated full time to Jay Hall & Associates, Inc. managing financial and administrative matters.
